Hello, Amazing Educators! 👋🏽
As we wrap up the semester, it’s time to reflect on all the incredible work you’ve done: teaching new skills, fostering classroom communities, and building student confidence in tackling new challenges. Your dedication is paving the way for a successful year ahead.
When the new semester begins, it’s easy to feel the burden of preparing for the Texas STAAR® assessment. But here’s a key reminder: Don’t let the test overshadow the importance of consistent, meaningful instruction. Research shows that sticking with strong daily practices, rather than “teaching to the test,” has the greatest impact on student success.
Best Practices for Building Confidence and Skills:
Confidence is critical for student success, both academically and emotionally. When students feel prepared, they’re more likely to stay calm, access their knowledge, and persist through challenges.
From Practice to Progress: How STAAR MASTER® Interactive Can Help
To complement these strategies, we’re excited to announce updates to STAAR MASTER® Interactive based on your valuable feedback. These enhancements are designed to align even more closely with the Texas STAAR® assessment:
📖 New Side-by-Side Format for Reading Language Arts (RLA):
Students can now highlight, annotate, and copy text evidence throughout their assignments, streamlining constructed responses and answering questions more accurately. This new format enables students to seamlessly compare information with each question, helping them pinpoint key details and back up their answers with textual evidence.
🗣️Teacher-Controlled Text-to-Speech(TTS):
With our latest update, teachers can now customize TTS settings to better meet the needs of individual students. Additionally, “Coach” has been refined to align more closely with the STAAR® assessment, providing targeted support by reading only headings and question stems.
By weaving these tools into your instructional routine, you can provide students with consistent practice that boosts confidence and builds the skills they need for success.
💡 As you move into the new semester, remember that consistent, meaningful instruction is the key to building student confidence. Not “teaching to the test.” Every time you guide your students through thoughtful practice, encouraging them to try something new or helping them find solutions to challenging problems, you’re preparing them not just for STAAR® but for a lifetime of learning and growth.
Together, we can ensure every child feels empowered to shine, both in and out of the classroom.
Here’s to a strong finish this semester and an inspiring start to the new year!
